Part of Jonah’s birthday this year was a trip up to Seattle to go to the Museum of Flight, along with attending a baseball game against the Mariners and the Phillies, two of our favorite teams. Jonah also suggested we go see the Everett Aquasox minor league team play against our hometown team, the Eugene Emeralds, too. Given that Everett is 30 minutes north of Seattle we decided to add that to the agenda and had a blast of a weekend. Bonus? It was the annual Seafair celebration, which included an air show featuring the Blue Angels. The Boeing Museum of Flight is located at Boeing Field which is where the Blue Angels take off and return to after their aerial acrobatics.

The Blue Angels are getting ready to take off. Note the fingers in ears and ear protection. It was very loud!

This plane is known as “Fat Albert,” for reasons I have not looked up. It’s a big old bird though and was part of the Seafair Air Show.

This is an old AirForce One plane that flew Presidents Eisenhower, Kennedy, Johnson and Nixon throughout the world. It was fun to see the hat rack that held Johnson’s hat, the communications area, and other aspects of this “modern” aircraft.

A British Airways Concord jet.

In the museum there is an exhibit on space and space exploration including this Apollo Lunar Rover that was use for training purposes (I think). It was fun to see this on display.

Spot the Blue Angels!

The sun setting at the Everett Aquasox ballpark.

From up high at T-Mobile Park before the game. Our seats were down low, but we had time to explore the place which was good fun.

Here are a couple of knuckleheads hanging out near the TV broadcast area in center field.

The Blue Angels continued flying in the Sunday Air Show and we saw them from the top of the ballpark after the game was over.
